Graduate School of Robotics and Design
The learning hub is a high-rise campus in the heart of Osaka
Osaka is a cutting-edge city that will also host the Osaka-Kansai Expo in 2025.
Students will study at a 125m-tall urban tower campus in Umeda, the heart of the city, with 21 floors above ground and 2 floors below.
Acquire diverse and in-depth expertise
This graduate school has three courses: Robotics, System Design, and Spatial Design.
We aim to conduct interdisciplinary research through collaborative education that transcends course boundaries while taking advantage of each student's expertise.
We aim to develop talented people who have diverse perspectives and specialized knowledge and who can independently discover and solve social issues.

01 Aiming to develop human resources who will take on new business challenges
Many companies are looking for people with a spirit of adventure to work on new businesses, not just mature existing businesses. We aim to develop people who can add value to products and services and have a perspective on user experience (UX) design.
02 Collaboration with companies, regions, and local governments
We will work to solve real-world problems presented by our partners. By collaborating with members of the public and working hard, we will share challenges with a diverse range of people with different values and cultures, and develop human resources who can achieve goals together while complementing each other's knowledge and skills.
03 Providing world-class innovation education
We incorporate innovation education, including design thinking, which is practiced at prestigious universities and research institutes in the US and Europe, as well as at Japanese companies. Students will not only acquire techniques, but also develop the ability to create new value from the user's perspective.
Robotics Course
Robots are systems that are made up of various elemental technologies, the foundation of which is mechatronics technology. Through practical education through fieldwork aimed at the social implementation of robots, students have a wide range of options for their future.
-
Key Points of the Robotics Course
01 Contributing to society through research and development of robotics systems
Japan is facing a declining birthrate and an aging population, and work style reform is required. The government is aiming to popularize medical welfare robots and life support robots as new leaders in this field. In this course, we will tackle research and development of these social issues from the perspective of human-centered design.
02 A wide range of future options through research and development of elemental technologies for robot systems
In addition to basic mechatronics technology, students will learn a wide range of technologies, including sensing technology for the environment and the robot itself, artificial intelligence, and control technology. In addition, students will work on human sensing, which is necessary for developing robot systems that coexist with humans.
03 Practical education aimed at implementing robot systems in society
The robot systems we research and develop need to be implemented in society and used to improve people's lives. We will achieve this through joint research with companies, collaboration with universities, and cooperation with local communities.[Message for those who wish to go on to graduate school]
The experience of integrating the knowledge of mechanics, electrical engineering, measurement and control, and information that you have acquired at the undergraduate level and shaping it into a single system in the field of robotics is extremely important in establishing your expertise. It is in graduate school that you can put your ideas into shape. Please go on to the Robotics course and take on the challenge.Major Employers in the Past Three Years (Master's Program)

System Design Course
To solve social issues, we need the ability to design systems that are optimal for the whole, not just for parts. We will lead the IoT era, hone our design sensibilities, and train engineers with design sensibilities.
-
Key Points of the System Design Course
01 Promoting research and development from a system design perspective
System design is the process of combining various technologies to solve social problems. In this course, students will study mathematics, IT, and robotics at their core, and under the guidance of highly specialized faculty, they will promote research and development based on diverse perspectives and advanced technical capabilities.
02 Nurturing engineers who will lead the IoT era
With the spread of IoT, what kind of products and services will be needed in the future? Students will be able to think for themselves about the answer and make it a reality. Our goal is to train engineers who will lead the IoT era through various real-world collaboration practices.
03 Gain a sense of design
Today, there is a wide demand for engineers who understand design. This course fosters engineers with a design sensibility by implementing collaborative education with the Design and Architecture Course.[Message for those who wish to go on to graduate school]
There are still many new services and products in society that have yet to be realized. For example, until just a few years ago, services such as Uber Eats had not yet been created. It is up to you to create the next innovation. Acquire more advanced knowledge through the learning and experience in the System Design course.Major Employers in the Past Three Years (Master's Program)
