Education and Learning High school-university connection

Features

  • Diverse programs: Freely combine lectures and practical training
  • Diverse targets and purposes: Not only students, but also teachers and parents
  • Optimal implementation content and method: Based on detailed prior discussion

message

The modern education industry, whether in secondary or tertiary education, is under strict scrutiny from society regarding its ability to develop human resources. There is also a demand for the creation of new mechanisms for junior high, high school, and university link activities that are committed to the rich and steady growth of young people. Osaka Institute of Technology's OIT Junior High School, High School, and University Link Program promotes the growth of junior high and high school students through collaboration with link schools.
We offer a wide variety of programs for different purposes and targets, including practical inquiry learning and clear lectures that are unique to OIT, tours of full-scale experimental equipment and laboratory experiences, information sessions that provide hints for choosing between humanities and sciences, stimulating lectures that broaden your horizons and opportunities for future success, parent seminars and teacher training. A variety of options are available, from single programs to multiple combinations, depending on the educational policies and requests of the connected schools. Furthermore, we aim to optimize the specific content and implementation methods of each program for the students of the connected schools through prior meetings.
Osaka Institute of Technology would like to further evolve these connection programs in order to effectively develop young talent. We hope that collaboration with our connection schools will be a major driving force in this endeavor, and we look forward to your active participation.

  • Science Koshien Osaka Prefecture Tournament
The competition was established in 2011 by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) with the aim of "widening the base of science lovers and cultivating the top tier by creating a place where science-loving high school students from all over the country can gather, compete, and show their skills." Since 2014, our university has been running the Osaka Prefecture competition in collaboration with the Osaka Prefectural Board of Education.

    Overview of 2024 Program

The competition was established in 2011 by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) with the aim of "widening the base of science lovers and cultivating the top tier by creating a place where science-loving high school students from all over the country can gather, compete, and show their skills." Since 2014, our university has been running the Osaka Prefecture competition in collaboration with the Osaka Prefectural Board of Education.

In addition to determining the winning school (the school that will advance to the national competition), the Osaka Institute of Technology of Technology Science and Technology Award is awarded to high schools that achieve particularly good results in the practical competition section, encouraging the improvement of theory and its application to engineering, that is, practical skills that are important in science and technology.

Starting in 2015, we have also been holding a "Basic Experiment Course for Practical Competition Preparation" to help high school students participating in the tournament improve their experimental techniques and their ability to analyze experimental results.

Participant comments I had been vaguely thinking that it would be fine if I went to a university that I could get into through a designated school recommendation, but after hearing this explanation, I realized the things I needed to do one after another, and it made me think again about my future career path. (Second-year high school student)

Information session to broaden your horizons in science and engineering

subject High school 2nd year general education/science class
Number of people About 150 people
Travel time 70 min
place gym
Participant comments It was very informative to hear the Assistant Professor talk about the fun and importance of science, where even if you are studying the same subject, the path you take changes depending on the direction of your interests, through his actual research. I want to change my easy-going thinking that it's enough to just study the elective subjects (physics, biology, chemistry) that are right for me, and that it's enough to study subjects that "get me good grades." (2nd year high school student)

Preparatory study for admission and follow-up after admission

To ensure a smooth transition to classes after enrollment, we offer different preparatory study programs for each entrance exam category.
Before enrolling, students will be provided with assignments in English, physics, and mathematics aimed at improving their academic ability, and they will also have opportunities to meet with professors and current students in the department. After enrolling, students will receive individual study consultations from the university's Education Center. We will provide thorough support from before enrollment until after enrollment.
