School Colors
Osaka Institute of Technology, which opened in 1949, inherited the spirit of the old school system and was proactive in acquiring specialized skills as well as extracurricular activities. Images of the students marching into the school with the school flag at the front at the sports festival are still preserved. Students carried out various activities to raise the profile of the university, which had just opened. The creation of a cheer song was one of these, and the student newspaper at the time carried an article expressing hopes for the song along with the cheer squad flags fluttering in the sky, stating that "Together with the blue and navy flag in the heated stadium, the song will overpower strong opponents and greatly boost the morale of our athletes" (Osaka Institute of Technology Newspaper, March 27, 1952 issue).
Based on the long history of our university, on August 1, 2012, we officially established the school color (Osaka Institute of Technology blue) as "navy blue," based on the familiar navy blue color used in the school flag and cheer squad flags for many years.
The dark blue color represents the university's history and tradition of working long ago to educate professional personnel.

The color of the communication mark (cyan) was selected as the blue of water, and represents the global idea of "From the Yodo River to the world...from the flow of the river to the oceans of the world" and "kind to both people and the earth". Cyan is also one of the three primary colors of colorants in cyanotype and printing technology, which were essential for industrial development. In addition, the Japanese word "cyanotype" also means "future design", so this color expresses our hopes for the future success of Osaka Institute of Technology.
