Osaka Institute of Technology's three policies

We have established three policies : "Diploma Policy (Policy on awarding degrees)," "Curriculum Policy (Policy on organizing and implementing the curriculum)," and "Admissions Policy (Policy on accepting new students)."
Furthermore, in order to appropriately improve learning outcomes through the curriculum, we have established a "Curriculum Matrix" and a "Curriculum Map." For details, please refer to "Educational Policies for Undergraduate and Graduate Schools."

Regarding the educational policies of undergraduate and graduate programs
What is a diploma policy (degree awarding policy)?
The diploma policy outlines the fundamental principles for determining whether to award a degree, clearly defining the requirements for completion and the abilities expected of the individuals being trained.
At our university, we have established a university-wide diploma policy for both undergraduate and graduate programs, and based on this, each faculty and graduate school has established its own diploma policy in accordance with its respective educational objectives.

Curriculum policy (policy for curriculum development and implementation)
The curriculum policy outlines the fundamental principles for organizing the curriculum, the content of courses, and teaching methods necessary to achieve educational objectives and diploma policies.
Based on this policy, we are developing a systematic and progressive curriculum to enhance education.
What is an admissions policy?
The admissions policy is a fundamental guideline that defines the types of students to be accepted, based on the educational objectives, diploma policy, and curriculum policy of each faculty and department.
In addition, we have outlined the learning outcomes we expect from the students we accept, from the perspective of the three elements of academic ability.
What is a curriculum matrix?
To realize our diploma policy, we have created a curriculum matrix based on our curriculum development and implementation guidelines.
The curriculum matrix clearly shows which courses can be used to acquire each item of the diploma policy.
What is a curriculum map?
Each faculty and department has formulated three policies based on its educational objectives, and has organized a consistent curriculum from the "entrance" (admission selection) to the "exit" (graduation certification and degree conferral) of university education based on these policies. The curriculum consists of specialized subjects for each faculty and department, as well as foundational education subjects common to the university.
Each faculty and department visualizes its course structure as a curriculum map, in conjunction with three core policies. This allows students to confirm the position of each course within the educational curriculum when registering for courses.
